Nadeem Ishaque Glasgow Counsellor

Counsellor in Central Glasgow and Online

Maybe you've been carrying something heavy for a while now. Or perhaps things have just become too much and you're not quite sure where to start. Whatever's brought you here, it makes sense that you're looking for support.

You might be wondering if therapy's right for you. Whether you'll be understood. Whether it'll actually help. These questions are completely normal. What matters is that you've recognised something needs to change, and that takes real courage.

I'm Nadeem, and I work with adults and young people who are navigating all sorts of challenges. As an integrative psychotherapist, I draw from different therapeutic approaches to create something that works for you. We'll figure out what fits.

I'm a registered member with COSCA (the professional body for counselling and psychotherapy in Scotland) and I'm working towards full accreditation. I specialise in supporting young people aged 16-30 from Muslim and minoritised communities. I've spent over a decade working in these communities, and I understand the specific pressures that come with navigating identity, faith, family expectations, and belonging.

That said, you don't need to fit a particular profile to work with me. If you're struggling with anxiety, depression, addiction, relationship issues, stress, burnout, or trauma, we can talk. Therapy works when there's trust, and trust works when you feel genuinely heard.

What Actually Happens in Therapy?

Therapy's essentially a space where you can talk openly without judgement. It's not about me telling you what to do. It's about helping you understand what's going on beneath the surface, so you can make sense of your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours.

You might wonder about the difference between counselling and psychotherapy. Counselling often focuses on specific issues or life challenges, whilst psychotherapy tends to dig deeper into long-standing patterns and underlying causes. What matters most is that we find an approach that helps you move forward.

Together, we explore what's holding you back and work out practical ways to shift things. Some people come for a few sessions to tackle something specific. Others stay longer to work through deeper patterns. Either way, it's about giving you the tools to be the best version of yourself.

What Brings People to Therapy

People come to therapy for all sorts of reasons. This can include stress and burnout, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem, anxiety and depression or anger that feels out of control. For some, it's about processing trauma or making sense of complex family dynamics. I also work with issues like addiction, spiritual abuse, racism, faith doubts, and the unique pressures that come with balancing cultural or religious identity. Whatever you're dealing with, if it's affecting your life, it's worth addressing. And you don't need to have it all figured out before we start.

Ready to Take the Next Step?

If any of this resonates, let's talk. I offer an assessment session where we can explore what's bringing you to therapy and see if we're a good fit. There's no pressure. Just an honest conversation about how I might be able to help.
